Hot Dog Cart Man

Hello, and welcome to the Hot Dog Cart Man website.

I am blogging about hot dog carts, running a food service business, and other street vending topics. Please bookmark my website and visit often. Thanks!

The hotdog cart you purchase is a well-oiled and amply protected machine that can generate profits for you on any given day. In order to keep it in good condition and to avoid issues as you operate your hotdog cart, there are some aspects of the hotdog cart that you need to be well aware of for safety reasons. The following are three of the basic items you need to look after to ensure the safety and reliability of your hotdog cart.

Propane Tank

In essence, the propane tank is storage for highly flammable liquid used as fuel to cook your hotdogs at your concession cart. The basic components are the tank, the hose and the regulators. When purchasing a propane tank for your hotdog cart, you need to be sure that there are no leaks or weak spots in the tank that may cause the propane to seep out and cause a fire at your business area. As for the hose, you need to examine and clean the hose each week to see if there are cracks or breakage that may cause the propane to leak out and lead to a fire. Finally, you need to clean the regulators and burners daily so that the food residue do not cause rust, which in turn leads to cracks and eventual danger when using the burner.

Electricity

Many hotdog concession carts have a power box where they can attach to wires to be able to get a steady supply current of electricity. Since the wires are exposed to the outdoors, you need to be sure there are no cracks on the rubber insulation as well. Since the electricity contact points are also exposed to the elements, you need to check them regularly that they do not have built up rust or other things that can cause an electrical fire. You also need to make sure that the outlets on your hotdog cart are not near water or other flammable material as these may cause a short or worse yet a fire right there on your hotdog cart.

Wheels

Since your hotdog cart has a trailer attachment to it to make it mobile, regularly checking on the screws, nuts and bolts are important as they may loosen and thus give way while in transit. This can result in the total loss of your hotdog cart. Once you have chosen your spot for your hotdog concession cart, you need to make sure that your wheel stoppers are properly attached to the wheels, including the wheel locks, to avoid the situation that your hotdog concession cart suddenly rolls away in the middle of the business day.

To keep your hotdog cart safe and properly operating, you need to read the safety manual of the equipment. As an added measure, you need to be sure that the propane tank is solid and leak proof. You also need to make sure that the electrical outlets are safe and out of the way. The trailer and wheels need to be secure before you start on your business day. It may seem to be a chore, but these simple acts can go along way in keeping you safe and sound while operating your hotdog cart.
